Lab

I build tools for problems I run into, from keeping up with changes in my neighborhood to reviewing a design case study. I share them here so others can use them too.

A neighborhood guide to what’s changing in Mountain View.

OurBlock MV

About

OurBlock MV helps Mountain View neighbors discover local projects, understand what’s changing, and find opportunities to have a say.

The story

I’ve lived in Mountain View for more than ten years. I wanted an easier way to understand what’s changing around me and where neighbors can have a say. OurBlock started as the guide I wished I had.

I built it around a map so people can start with a place they care about. From there, they can explore local projects, read updates with links to their sources, and find ways to participate when input is open. My hope is that it helps neighbors feel more informed and more connected to the place we share.

How it works
  1. Find projects near a place.
  2. Read sourced updates.
  3. See how to participate when input is open.

About

A free AI skill that reviews one design case study across ten dimensions, with evidence for each score and the most important fixes to make first.

The story

While working on my portfolio, I wanted feedback I could act on. Reviewing the whole website at once felt like too much, so I focused the skill on one case study at a time: ten dimensions, a clear target level, and a short list of priorities.

The rubric looks at the decisions behind the work and how clearly the case study communicates them. That includes visual consistency, text density, desktop and mobile layouts, and motion. It asks the AI to show evidence and distinguish what the story doesn’t demonstrate from what the designer didn’t do. I packaged it as a single file so other designers can use it with their own case studies, too.

How to use the skill
  1. Download SKILL.md.
  2. Attach it to an AI conversation with one case-study link.
  3. Choose your target level and ask for a review. Staff Product Designer is the suggested starting point.
